Caydon has arrived in America

After 15 years of setting new benchmarks for Australia’s development landscape, Caydon is taking its exacting standards and strong commitment to innovation to the US. We have secured two sites – the first in Houston, Texas, where construction is underway, and the second in booming Seattle, Washington.

Why the USA?

Caydon Principal Joe Russo began to plan US expansion in late 2015. He felt that we were outgrowing the Australian market, so began to explore opportunities in the US. Houston attracted him primarily because of the city’s business-friendly culture and lack of zoning. Seattle’s employment growth, particularly in leading tech industries, made the northern city appealing.

“I see a real, long-term business here,” Mr Russo told The Houston Business Journal. “Within the next five to 10 years, the majority of my developments will be here in the US.”

The Houston site is part of an exciting and future-proofing urban renewal zone in Midtown, the heart of the city. This is the only truly walkable neighbourhood in Houston and the arts is playing a big part in stimulating economic development and community revitalisation. It’s a vibrant area, rich in dining, shopping and entertainment options and home to some of Houston’s top restaurants.

Our 27-level tower will be Midtown’s first high-rise luxury apartment complex and comprise 357 studio, one and two-bedroom apartments with shops and restaurants on the ground floor. Shared facilities will include a pool with swim-up bar, a gym, indoor and outdoor dining facilities and a dog park.

In Seattle, where there is strong demand for home ownership, we were chosen by the Trinity Episcopal Parish to develop a prize site adjacent to the 1982 church. In the heart of the First Hill neighbourhood, the site offers the opportunity to create an iconic building and an enviable lifestyle for residents.

Seattle is one of the hottest real estate markets in the country. Water on one side and mountains on the other makes the city attractive, but means that land is limited and the only way to grow is up. Seattle is home to iconic companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, Boeing, Apple and Uber, and demand for rentals is high.

The 26 level development will include 226 condominiums with stunning views of Puget Sound, Lake Union and Cascade Mountains. Shared facilities and parking will be included.
