Alphington Families Win With Local School Upgrades

Jul 29, 2020

The Victorian Government has released details of its $14.1 million boost to Alphington Primary School and Fairfield Primary School.

There was already plenty to love about Alphington, the leafy suburb in Melbourne's inner north-east and home to our latest project, HOME By Caydon. Now we have another reason to love this neighbourhood. The Victorian Government has released details of its $14.1 million boost to Alphington Primary School and Fairfield Primary School.

Alphington Primary School is the closest public school for families who move into HOME By Caydon. So if the cafe scene and leafy parks weren’t enough to entice you to the neighbourhood, now you can add best-in-class primary school facilities to your list.

The plans, which can be viewed online, show off the major renovations due for Alphington Primary’s heritage site as well as new buildings. These include a competition-grade gymnasium and a new three-level learning centre to keep the kids active and engaged.

Just down the road at Fairfield Primary School, freshly landscaped outdoor areas and a $7 million new Wingrove Street site are set to add some much-needed space, outdoor learning and play options.

Places at the two well-regarded primary schools are in high demand.  Each school will be able to comfortably make space for a further 200 students once the works are completed, in time for the start of the 2022 school year.

Community consultations for the Fairfield Primary and Alphington Primary School upgrades began in 2019 and included a series of surveys and drop-in sessions. Plans were then developed in line with achieving the most important outcomes: increased school capacity and improved outdoor spaces. Both of which will be addressed by the upgrades.
