The Upside to Downsizing

Sep 02, 2021

If you’re considering downsizing, a new apartment offers a promising blank canvas for a brand-new chapter in life. We look at some of the benefits of downsizing that will make the move something you’ll look forward to.

Downsizing is an opportunity for a fresh start, and a Caydon apartment is designed to make this transition seamless. Our apartments are thoughtfully designed with added luxuries included as standard, along with offering low-maintenance living, inner-city convenience and an opportunity to build neighbourly connections.

The upsides to downsizing are hard to ignore, but before you make any decisions — you’ll want to be well informed. So, let’s look at some of the benefits you may be able to unlock when it does come time to make the move.

You’ll love the low maintenance lifestyle

Moving into a brand-new apartment and living with a smaller environmental footprint requires minimal maintenance compared to the upkeep of an established home. The time, energy and costs you’ll save can now be utilised for the things you actually enjoy.

Our developments also offer residents a diverse range of onsite shared spaces that invite you to unwind in comfort and style. At HOME By Caydon, You’ll be a short elevator ride away from a full-equipped gym, sauna, rooftop pool and outdoor cinema, to name a few.

Security is second to none

We want all of our residents to feel safe and secure in their Caydon apartment, and we achieve this by using world class security systems to protect your property, your vehicle and our shared spaces.

Planning a getaway? No worries. You can lock up and leave knowing your home will be securely protected in your absence.

Convenient, inner-city living

Our 10|20 Living Model means that in a Caydon apartment, you're never further than 10km from the CBD, with everyday essentials no more than 20 minutes away.

Apartment living also affords the opportunity to live in coveted inner-city suburbs that are usually are out of reach if purchasing an established home.

Community connections

The added bonus of apartment living is the opportunity to build rich community connections. Our projects attract like-minded residents who are proud of their homes, appreciate the good things in life and look out for each other.

Get to know your new neighbours using the Caydon HQ app, and connect in real time by arranging get togethers within the shared spaces.

Supercharge your superannuation

Another incentive to downsize is the financial benefit.

The Federal Budget recently announced that from 1 July 2022, Australians 60 years and older will be able to access the downsizer contribution scheme. This scheme was previously eligible to Australians 65 years or older.

This scheme incentivises downsizers who sell their home, allowing them to use their sale proceeds to make a one-off contribution of up to $300,000 each (or $600,000 for a couple) into their superannuation fund.*
